More detail on this person: Robert, Bob, William Brown was born on August 10, 1941, in Neptune, New Jersey, and passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 83 years old. Bob grew up in Ocean Grove, NJ, and graduated from Neptune High School in 1959. He remained close with many of his childhood friends from Ocean Grove, maintaining those lifelong connections even as they spread across the country. Bob valued friendship deeply and made it a point to stay in touch with those who had been part of his journey. From a young age, Bob aimed to be a good citizen, a proud patriot, and a devoted family man. At just 17, he became the youngest officer on the Ocean Grove Police Department. He served his community with distinction, often sharing vivid stories from his time as a beat cop. He also volunteered with the Ocean Grove Fire Department. During this time, he developed a love for scuba diving, spear fishing, and wreck diving_until a memorable shark encounter brought that chapter to a close. In 1964, Bob joined the U.S. Army. He attended Officer Candidate School in 1966 and went on to train as a helicopter pilot. He served in Vietnam throughout 1968. He later earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maryland and, years later, a Master's Degree in Project Management from Chapman University. After retiring from the Army in 1984, Bob worked with Teledyne Brown and then Boeing, where he spent 12 successful years. A dedicated citizen, Bob remained deeply engaged in civic and political life throughout his years. He served as District Republican Leader and Republican Precinct Chair, supporting candidates not only financially but also through tireless, hands-on efforts_often building campaign signs himself. His commitment to public service extended beyond politics; Bob also served as a Reserve Deputy with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, where he was honored with the Medal of Merit in 1987 for his outstanding service. Bob was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He treasured the camaraderie of these activities, whether deer and elk hunting with friends or fishing in Alaska with his family. Later in life, he developed a deep interest in genealogy, making several trips to New Jersey for school reunions and ancestral research. One of Bob's great passions was teaching Hunter Education at the Tacoma Rifle and Revolver Club (TRRC), a commitment he maintained for 19 years. Beyond teaching, he organized instructor schedules and personally constructed a trail on the club property to help educate students about safe and ethical hunting practices. The trail included lessons on legal and ethical shot placement, stream crossings, and etiquette on private land. In recognition of his dedicated service, he was named "Outstanding Sportsman of the Year" by the Pierce County Sportsmen's Council in 2008. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Monika; his children: Steven (Lacy), Henry, Scott (Zuzana), Randall (Jenifer), and Suzanne (Chris); and six grandchildren: Katie, Maddie, Sami, Marissa, Ashok, and Tommy.
