Joseph Biasi, 68, a native of Hicksville, New York
and a Yorktown, Virginia resident since 1983,
passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015. Peter
completed his undergraduate degree at the
University of Scranton where he was also an ROTC
cadet. Upon graduation in 1969, he was
commissioned into the U.S. Army as a 2LT.
Highlights of his military career included:
Airborne Ranger, Armor Officer and an Army Aviator
(helicopters). His aviation assignments in the
U.S., Korea, and Puerto Rico were the ones he
loved the most. He earned a Masters Degree during
his time in the service and in 1989, he retired
from the U.S. Army having achieved the rank of
Major. Following retirement, he enjoyed working
with young high school students at Peninsula
Catholic and Bruton High School, where he
assisted his wife coaching track and
cross-country. Peter was an active volunteer with
the Peninsula Track Club for the past 30 years and
could be found at most events or races on any
given weekend. He loved biking and coaching his
wife, an avid runner, supporting her running
endeavors. He was a devout Catholic. He is
survived by his wife, Barbara Biasi and two sons,
Michael and his wife Kathryn of Fuquay-Varina, NC
and Raymond and his wife Melissa of Chesapeake,
VA, a sister, Lauretta Rayzak and her husband
Joseph of Hicksville, NY, four grandchildren,
Preston, Lila Anne, Clara and Joseph. The family
will receive friends on Monday from 7:00 to 8:30
PM in Amory Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be
held at 11:00AM Tuesday, August 4, 2015 in St.
Joan of Arc Catholic Church with Rev. Mike Joly,
officiating. A reception will immediately follow
the mass. A graveside service with Military Honors
will follow at 2:00 PM in Parklawn Memorial Park.
Donations may be made in Peter's name to the
Wounded Warrior Project or The American Cancer
Society . Arrangements by Amory Funeral Home,
Grafton, VA.
