More detail on this person: Emory Donald Beasley, born on November 5, 1940 in Telfair County, GA, was welcomed by our Lord Jesus Christ on November 23, 2024 to reside with Him forever in eternity. Don is preceded in death by his parents, George Thomas Beasley and Rausie Lee Jones Beasley, and his brother Thomas Wimbric Beasley. Don is survived by his wife of 56 years, Loma Jackson Beasley; his son Keith Beasley (Louise), his daughters Lani Hassen (Robert) and Lori Roberts (Trevor); his son Darren Beasley (Hope); his brother George Marshall Beasley; his grandchildren Taylor Rose Calderon (Garth), Kayleigh Roberts, Bridgette Beasley, Jenna Roberts, Lilliana Roberts, Olivia Beasley, and Lucas Beasley; his great-grandchild Reggie Ray Calderon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. While growing up in Macon, GA as a young boy and teenager, Don worked for the Macon Telegraph delivering newspapers and at Piggly Wiggly as a stockperson. He graduated from Lanier High School in 1958 and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Don served two tours of duty in Vietnam, one as an infantry soldier, and his last as a Bell UH-1 Iroquois "Huey" helicopter pilot and retired in 1973. He worked as a salesman for Martin Marrietta Materials, retiring in 2000, and later retired from the Columbia County School District as a school bus driver. Don was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan and spent many Saturday afternoons with his family and friends "between the hedges". For many years, he also cheered on his DAWGS at the great Georgia / Florida rivalry game in Jacksonville, Florida. "Papa" Don's love and pride for his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, extended family, and friends was ever present in their lives. He put those he loved first and will be carried to rest by the heavy hearts of all who loved him so dearly. Committal services and internment for Captain Emory Donald Beasley will be held at 1:00 PM, December 4, 2024, at the Georgia National Cemetery,1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, GA. He will receive full military honors. Flowers will be received at Darby Funeral Home, 480 E. Main Street, Canton, GA. Monetary donations may be sent to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation in his honor.
