More detail on this person: John A. Blamey, Jr., 64, of Springfield, passed away January 16, 2011. He was born June 16, 1946, in Greenfield, MO., to John (Jack) and Marzine Blamey.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Blamey. He is survived by his mother, Marzine Blamey, Dadeville; two sons, Steven and Ryan of Springfield; long-time companion, Kathy Clapsaddle, Springfield and her family; a sister, Madge Brooks, Dadeville; his brothers, Bill Blamey and wife Debbie, Saddlebrooke; Bob Blamey and wife Saundra, Dadeville; Pat Blamey and wife Jane, Monett; and two grandsons.

John joined the U.S. Army in 1966, serving in numerous Aviation and Field Artillery assignments in Vietnam, Europe, Texas, North Carolina, Alabama and Oklahoma, finally retiring from the Army Safety Center in 1986. Later he was employed by Greene, Inc. of Atlanta until his death.

Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 from 7 - 8 PM in the Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Springfield. A graveside service will be held at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, Springfield, at 2:30 PM Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, with Full Military Honors and inurnment to follow.
