More detail on this person: Lafayette-It is with a heavy hearts, the family regretfully announce the passing of Ret. Lt. Col Marshall Bardelmeier, USAF at the age of 82. He passed away peacefully at his residence in Broussard on March 09, 2023. Marshall was born on December 16, 1940 in Edwardsville, IL to Virgil and Dorothy Bardelmeier. While growing up on a farm, he was active in the FFA and showed prize Hereford cattle. After graduating from SIU, he was commissioned in the USAF as a 2nd Lt. He was sent to jet flight training in OK and the to helicopter school in Reno. He served in the Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia. Upon retirement from active duty, he went into the USAF Reserves for over 20 years. He was active in the Lafayette Chapter of Civil Air Patrol. During this time, he flew helicopters for PHI for 33 years. As the man he was he never retired. He did lawn maintenance and landscaping locally and was a handy man. He loved fishing, working in his shop, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Marshall is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sandra Hammack Bardelmeier; children, Deborah Lynn Guillotte (Theophile), Duane E. Bardelmeier and Darrell J. Bardelmeier; grandchildren, Lynda Kay Bardelmeier (Garrett Hebert), Lacey J. Vasseur (Dylan), Casey J Dickinson (Bren) and Devin P. Guillotte; great grandchildren, Marley Rae Vasseur, Karson Vasseur, Allie Dickinson, Walker Dickinson and Louis J. Hebert; and sister, Karen Schriefer (Robert). In Lieu of Flowers the family would like donations be made to a Disabled Veteran Association. A Celebration of Life will be held at Louisiana Funeral Services and Crematory on Saturday, March 18, 2023. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
