More detail on this person: James R. Britt of Willard died Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital. He was born in Lorain on September 26, 1946.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Betteann Seel Britt; children, Amy Kohlmyer and Brian Britt; five grandchildren; sister, Judy Baker and brother, Richard Britt.

Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Morehart Britt in 2000 and by parents, Robert and Ethel Klesa Britt.

Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in Calvary Cemetery.

James R. Britt, age 70, of Willard, and formerly of Lorain, passed away on the evening of Wednesday March 29, 2017 while a patient at the Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital. Born in Lorain on September 26, 1946, Jim had been a resident of Lorain for most of his life prior to moving to Willard in 2007.A 1964 graduate of Lorain High School, he later received his Associate's Degree in Computer Programming from Lorain County Community College.Jim was a veteran of the United States Army where he fulfilled duty assignments as a helicopter pilot attached to the 196th Aviation Company during two tours of duty in Vietnam. At the time of his discharge, he held the rank of Chief Warrant Officer II and was the recipient of the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with one Palm.For more than twenty-five years he was employed as a computer programmer for Lorain National Bank where he ultimately was promoted to the position of Executive Vice President. He completed the last fifteen years of his career as a computer programmer for First Federal Savings of Lorain.Jim was a forty-year member of Lorain Elks Lodge 1301 as well as a member of American Legion Post # 514 of Willard.In his free time he enjoyed lake fishing and boating. Additional interests included both water and snow skiing as well as lumbering. Jim also displayed an aptitude for carpentry and crafted a variety of projects using those talents. He is survived by his wife of ten years Betteann (nee Seel), daughter Amy (Ross) Kohlmyer of Lorain, son Brian (Jennifer) Britt of Avon, and step-son Kevin (Jennifer) Harpham of Fairlawn. Additional survivors include grandchildren Aiden, Connor, Owen, Timothy, and Kate, sister Judy Baker of Huber Heights, and brother Richard (Diane) Britt of Amherst. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.Jim was preceded in death by his first wife Janice (nee Morehart) in 2000, and by his parents Robert and Ethel (nee Klesa) Britt. Visitation will be Sunday April 2nd from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway Avenue,Lorain. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday April 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Calvary Cemetery with Reverend Craig Hovanec, pastor of St. Peter Parish in Lorain presiding.
