More detail on this person: Peter "Pete" Brokaw, beloved husband, father, and community leader, passed away peacefully. He was 85. Son of Elise McCandless and Julian Brokaw, he was born and raised in Nyack, New York. Pete was a proud graduate of Syracuse University, where he played a vital role in helping the Orange capture the 1959 NCAA National Championship in football -a historic season still celebrated today. Following graduation, Pete was drafted by the Baltimore Colts, but chose a different path -one guided by duty, service, and faith. He answered his country's call as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, serving honorably and courageously. After returning home, Pete built a distinguished career on Wall Street, where he worked for more than 25 years. Known for his integrity, insight, and ability to bring people together, he mentored many and forged lasting friendships throughout his career. A longtime resident of Little Silver, New Jersey, Pete moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he resided for the last 30 years of his life. Pete found his greatest joy in his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Laura Brokaw and his son Brad Brokaw (wife Katharine Brokaw), who carry forward his example of kindness, curiosity, and strength. His sons David Brokaw and Barry Brokaw predeceased him in 2021 and 2016. He is survived by his two sisters Judy Kulczycki (Saint Louis, MO) and Nancy Jacobs (Mill Valley, CA) along with his two grandchildren ShaiAnne Brokaw and Brayden Brokaw. Pete's life was a testament to purpose, perseverance, and love. He had a gift for bringing people together so they could learn, grow, and care for one another. His legacy endures in the countless lives he inspired and the bonds he nurtured. "Well done, good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:23 Services and interment private. Please remember Pete by sharing condolences with his family through his guestbook.
