More detail on this person: William "Bill" Eugene Calvert, age 91, of Gravois Mills, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at his home in Gravois Mills, Missouri. He was born June 19, 1934, in Columbia, Missouri, a son of his late mother, Marian (Calvert) and step-father, Alfred Kile. On August 29, 1954, in Columbia, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Joanne E. "Jodie" Clark, who preceded him in death on January 2, 2022. Bill served over twenty years in the United States Army. He was proud of the country he served, completing one tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. Bill was a highly decorated helicopter pilot, succeeding in numerous helicopter recovery missions. A devoted husband, he shared a lifelong love of travel with his wife, together visiting all but three of the fifty states. Known for his adventurous spirit and steady heart, he found his greatest joy in his family, especially his beloved daughters and grandchildren, who will forever cherish his love, guidance and wisdom. Bill is survived by his daughters, Brenda S. Winscott of Columbia, Missouri, Cheryl York (Dale) of Rocheport, Missouri, Sandra Bowerman (Odie) of Gravois Mills, Missouri and Susan Sontag (Jim) of Barnett, Missouri; six grandchildren, Sara Blacklock, William Blacklock, Heather York, Aimee Moss, Kelly Bonnell and Michael Lisenby and eleven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 21st, followed with funeral services at 1:00 p.m., at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel. Graveside services and interment with full military honors will follow at Garber Memorial Estates. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Patriot Guard Riders.
