More detail on this person: Damon Markus Cecil Jr. was born July 2, 1946 in Los Angeles, CA. Love for his country led him to join the US Army, where he flew Cobra attack helicopters in Vietnam. For valorous actions in combat Damon was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Anyone who spent any time with Damon would know that his military service was a period of great pride in his life. The intricate details that he could remember as he told each tale as though it were yesterday kept his audience captivated for hours. Following his military service, Damon spent 20 years at Intel where he worked as a software engineer. Damon continued to serve at American Legion Post 35 where he ran their Bingo Night for several years and was elected to the post leadership positions from Adjutant to Commander. His family and loved ones will remember the brave missions, exciting stories, great intelligence and dry wit. Damon had incredible strength, never allowing life's blows to knock him down. The ability he had to see each problem as a new challenge, a puzzle for him to figure out. Even at the very end, he accepted the hand he was dealt with grace. Damon leaves behind his beloved son, a sister, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and countless family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
