Greenfield, Jr., age 70, resident of Columbus, died on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital. Memorial services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at 6 p.m. CAPT Greenfield, son of the late Robert G. Greenfield and Vivien Wheeler Greenfield, was born September 2, 1939 in Plainfield, NJ. He was Protestant by faith and a former member of the VFW. CAPT Greenfield served his country honorably in the U.S. Army for over 20 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Era Conflict, was a U.S. Army Paratrooper, and received several medals and ribbons during his career to include the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star with "V" Device (1OLC), Air Medal (24th award), Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze stars, and Parachutist Badge. CAPT Greenfield is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rosalie Greenfield of Columbus; two sons, Bob Greenfield and his wife, Kim of Long Island, NY, and Brian Greenfield and his wife, Catherine of Peachtree City, GA; three grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Greenfield of Phenix City, AL, Luke Thomas Greenfield of Peachtree City, GA, and Cole Robert Greenfield, also of Peachtree City, GA; one sister; two brothers; other relatives an friends. Flowers are accepted or contributions can be made to the ACS at Fort Benning, GA.
