More detail on this person: John Howard Harrington John Howard Harrington LAKE JULIAN, N.C. - John Howard Harrington, a former 18-year resident of West Oneonta, passed away Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at his home in Lake Julian, N.C. He was 67. The son of the late John and Marion Harrington, he was born May 30, 1946, in Oneonta. John proudly served as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War where he was decorated with two Distinguished Flying Crosses and a Purple Heart. He also served 21 years in the New York State Police as a helicopter pilot. John loved fast cars, especially Corvettes, and was an avid runner and weight lifter for many years. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Harriet; his sister, Debbie and her husband, Jim; his sons, John and his wife, Karen, Marc and his wife, Jana, Patrick and his wife, Krista; son Benjamin; daughter Jessica; stepdaughter Viktoria; and 10 grandchildren. Arrangements were made by the Groce Funeral Home of Lake Julian, N.C. There will be a private service in the West Oneonta Cemetery.
