More detail on this person: William E. Hartnett, Jr. TAUNTON - William E. Hartnett, Jr., 69 years old, died on Saturday May 14, 2011 in Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston after a hard fought battle with leukemia. In spite of his condition, Bill always managedto fightbackto health during the course of his illness. Born in Newton, MA., son of the late William and Anna (Mullen) Hartnett, Sr. Bill was educated in St Mary's High School in Waltham and was a 1964 graduate of Boston College School of Business. After his graduation from BC he went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1973, retiring with the rank of Captain. He worked though out the country as a food and beverage manager at various restaurants. He enjoyed traveling, visiting Europe almost yearly, was a avid reader and enjoyed politics. Bill was also an avid fan all of all the Boston sports teams. Bill is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sheila (Hargadon) Hartnett of Taunton and his children Deborah Walsh and her husband Michael of Norman, OK; William Hartnett and his wife Terinna of Bristol, RI; Robert Hartnett and Diana Hartnett both of Taunton. He is the loving "Papa" and "Grampie" to eight grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral from the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave,.(Route 138 South) Taunton on Thursday at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Nicholas of Myra Church, Spring St, North Dighton at 10 AM. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4-7PM. Family interment services will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery. Donation in Bill's memory may be made to the Leukemia Society, POBox4072.
