Hampton Clues Sought to Air Crash Des Moines (AP) - Investigators continued to search for clues Thursday night into the crash of a light plane in which a flying instructor and a student pilot were killed. Killed were Donald Hampton, 29, of Des Moines, an instructor for Iowa Aviation, and Paul Appleget, 34, of Norwalk, who was taking flying lessons when the plane crashed. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) dispatched inspectors to the scene Thursday, but announced no immediate reason for the crash. R.H. Baker, general maintenance inspector for the FAA here, said the National Transportation Safety Board in Washington was sending an inspector to Des Moines Thursday. The Cessna 150 with Hampton and Appleget aboard left Municipal Airport here at 6:30 a.m. The plane crashed at 8:10 a.m. about 12 miles northwest of the airport in a farm field owned by Dan Smith, 40, of rural Grimes. The wreckage was spotted by a neighbor, John McIntyre, 39, who was plowing in a nearby field and notified Smith.
