More detail on this person: Col. Anthony Kuykendall Col. (Ret) Anthony N. Kuykendall passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008. He was 65 years old. Tony is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dianne Kuykendall, his son, Wesley, daughter Brandi, daughter-in-law Noramay, son-in-law William, and three grandchildren, Chassitty, Kaley, and Brayden. Other surviving family members are his mother Virginia Irene Kuykendall (Mrs. Paul,) siblings Joyce Kimpton (Mrs. Allen,) Bruce Kuykendall (Sue,) Ray Kuykendall (Deborah,)Nancy Stevenson (Richard,) Diana Kuykendall, Jean Newsome (Jim,) and Susie Dennison (Scott) and his closest friends Wesley and Shirley Olsen. Tony was a loving and caring man, devoted to his wife, dedicated to his children and grandchildren, and to caring for his friends. No better husband, father, grandfather or friend could be found. Anyone who knew him will always consider it an honor and privilige to have known him and to have had him in their lives. He enjoyed working on his cabin in Dubois, Wyo., the Rocky Mountains, fly fishing, antique car restoration and chuckwagon cooking. Tony was an Eagle Scout, a graduate of Tryon High School and of Erskine College. Col. (Ret) Kuykendall served his country with distinction and honor in the United States Army for more than 25 years as an Aviator in the Vietnam War, Field Artilleryman, and inspector General of Utah. His awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze star, the Meritorious Service Medal, and ten Air medals. A viewing a reception was held Saturday, Sept. 27 in Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northeast Florida Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
