More detail on this person: 3 airmen die as helicopter crashes into Spokane River SPOKANE - (AP) - Three Air Force officers were killed yesterday when their helicopter cut into four power lines across the Spokane River and crashed into the water about four miles west of Nine Mile Falls resort. The officers, based at Fairchild Air Force base near here, were identified by base officials as Maj. John C. Allen, 32, Los Angeles; Maj. Keith E. Kirchmeier, 32, DeSmet, S.D. and 1st Lt. Stephen V. Webb, 25, Prestonburg, Ky. Divers from the Spokane County Emergency Services helped Air Force recovery personnel find and bring up the wreckage and bodies.
