More detail on this person: John Glenn Miller passed peacefully on March 29, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of service, strength, and devotion to his country and family. Born on December 7, 1949, in Green River, Wyoming, John was the son of Richard Glenn Miller and Louise Vaughn Miller. Raised in a proud military family, he followed in the footsteps of his father, an Army Colonel, dedicating his life to service. John served honorably in the United States Army for over 23 years, rising to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CW4) and becoming a highly respected instructor pilot. Throughout his distinguished career, he served with the 101st Airborne and Cavalry units, among others, and flew the UH-1 Huey, AH-1 Cobra, and AH-64 Apache helicopters. He served in combat during Vietnam, Desert Shield, and Desert Storm. His bravery and dedication earned him numerous commendations, including multiple Bronze Stars, ten Air Medals, the Broken Wing Award, and the Vietnam Service Medal, among many others. His commitment to excellence and leadership left a lasting impact on those who served alongside him. After retiring from the military, John continued his work in aviation with Boeing, where he spent 19 years. Beyond his career, John was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and proudly rode with the Patriot Guard, honoring fallen service members. He loved the outdoors, travel, and spent much of his life living in different parts of the world through his military assignments. John was a man of discipline and quiet strength, known for his protective nature and unwavering dedication to those he loved. John is survived by his beloved wife, Ameda Louise Miller; his children, Tammie S. Miller and John G. "Spike" Miller II; and his stepchildren, Tamitha Smith, Ronald Smith, William "Billy" Smith, and Jeanette Pope. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren who carry forward his legacy. He is also survived by his siblings, Michaela Miller and Gary Miller. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Arnold, and his brother, Richard "Rick" Miller. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no local service. John will be laid to rest with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in his honor to the Wounded Warrior Project. John's life was one of courage, service, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. The skies that once carried him in flight now hold his spirit. And here on earth, we honor him, remember him, and carry his legacy forward with love.
