Mitchell, 58, of KCK, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2006, at the VA Medical Center, Leavenworth, KS. Funeral service wil l be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 28, 2006 at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th Street, KCK. Interment will follow in the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to: Eisenhower General Post Fund, VAMC, Voluntary Services, 4101 S. 4th Street Trafficway, Leavenworth, KS 66048, (memo portion of check: Pallative Care NHCU). Dennis was born March 7, 1948 in Jonesboro, AR, the son of Thomas and Verbie Mitchell. He was a long time area resident, graduating from Wyandotte High School in 1966. He worked with his father as a horse trader before serving in Vietnam; where he was exposed to Agent Orange. He did undergrad studies at KU before going to law school at UMKC, then he worked as a lawyer in the Wyandotte and Johnson County area before retiring in 1998 from his own law office. Upon retirement, he and his wife Jeannie, began their dream of traveling by motor home throughout North America. He was a pilot, an avid photographer and loved to travel and scuba dive. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 22 years: Jeannie; son: Dennis, Jr. of KCK, daughter: Linda Mitchell of Hollister, MO, daughter: Lisa Reynolds and her husband Joe of Hollister, MO; and 4 grandchildren: Ashley, Joseph, Dennis III and Larissa.
