More detail on this person: Mr James Arthur Mccaulley, 68 DEATHS State, The (Columbia, SC) - Tuesday, October 5, 2010 COLUMBIA - Funeral service for James Arthur McCaulley, 68, will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2010, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, with burial in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mr. McCaulley died Saturday, October 2, 2010. Born in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Arthur Edwin and Hazel Wathen McCaulley. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1973, attaining the rank of Captain. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, with the following affiliations; the 199th Infantry Brigade; the 9th U.S. Army Infantry Division; and Military Assistance Command Studies and Observations Group. He was the recipient of numerous military awards, including the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with DVC 60, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation (4th AWD), Civil Action Honor Medal with OLC (1st Class) and Armed Forces Reserve Medal. His specialized training in the Army included the Military Officers Intelligence Career Course and the U.S. Army Aviation Flight School. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1973, he joined the Richland County Sheriff's Department and served in several capacities, including deputy sheriff, criminal investigator, aircraft commander, Captain, chief of the Criminal Investigations Division and Director of the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, the office from which he retired in 1998. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and the S.C. Law Enforcement Officers Association. Surviving are his wife, Jeanmarie Mullin McCaulley; son, Michael B. McCaulley (Julie); brother, Michael E. McCaulley (Holley), all of Columbia.
