More detail on this person: It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Milo "Mac" Overstreet. Mac departed this life on March 15, 2026, at the age of 83, surrounded by loved ones in Las Cruces, NM. Mac will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Yvette, his daughter, Laura Overstreet, as well as extended family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Born in Texas, Mac was known for his ability to build buildings, chicken coops, and other structures on his 5-acre lots using whatever someone threw out. Even though he received a master's degree, he felt his most notable contribution was in Vietnam. As a helicopter pilot and Warrant Officer 2, he rescued Marines and fellow soldiers in the jungles of Vietnam. Each medal awarded was a reminder of the good he did during a war marked by such conflicts (political and societal). Throughout his life, he loved to play Texas Hold'em with anyone and everyone and talk about philosophical theology. Every day was filled with a question about philosophy. He made you critically think about life and the Bible. He believed in God and in the Trinity. Yet, he always questioned the interruption of someone's thought on it. He would always say, "Don't always believe the truth unless you have all the facts. If you don't have all the facts, you don't have the truth." His sense of humor and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone he met. A memorial service to honor Mac's life will be held on April 3, 2026 at 11:00 am in the General Douglas McBride Veteran's Cemetery within South Park Cemetery in Roswell, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Samaritan's Purse, a cause close to Mac's heart. Mac's legacy will live on in the cherished memories of his family and friends. He will be remembered always and missed dearly. Graveside services will take place on Friday April 3rd , 2026 at 11am. At General Douglas McBride Veterans Cemetery located at 3101 S Main St, Roswell, NM 88203.
