More detail on this person: John Francis Rairigh of Enterprise, AL passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025 at CSM Bennie G. Adkins State Veterans Home. He was 81. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 6, 2025 at First Methodist Church with Rev. Matt Jordan officiating and Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. Inurnment at Alabama National Cemetery will follow at a later date. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in his memory be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, 5757 Waterford District Drive, Suite 310, Miami, FL 33126 or First Methodist Church, 217 Main Street, Enterprise, AL 36330. John was a devoted family man who loved his family deeply. He never knew a stranger and was known for his warm spirit and generosity, which touched the lives of many around him. His love for antique cars was evident in his multiple restorations to include a classic Model A. He had a love for traveling during his time in the Army, embracing the opportunity to experience new places and cultures around the world. After retiring from the service, he found lasting camaraderie in the fellowship of other veterans, sharing stories that honored their shared experiences and enduring bond. John honorably served his country for over 20 years as an Army aviator, distinguishing himself with courage and dedication. During his military career, he completed two tours in Vietnam, where he flew countless combat missions. His bravery and skill in the air earned him the Bronze Star Medal and 40 Air Medals, a testament to his unwavering commitment to his fellow soldiers and his mission. John's time in service left a lasting impact on those who served beside him, and he carried the values of duty, honor, and resilience with him throughout his life. His commitment to service extended beyond his military career as he continued to volunteer with the Disabled American Veterans and at First Methodist Church, where he found immense fulfillment in serving alongside his church family. Mr. Rairigh was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rosettabel Rairigh. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Judy Rairigh, Enterprise, AL; daughter, Beth Rairigh, Wiesbaden, Germany; son, Matthew Rairigh (Shanna), Enterprise, AL; grandson, Mason Rairigh; sister, Sandra Pride, Sarasota, FL; niece, Hillary Rinker (Paul).
