More detail on this person: Hubert M. "Bert" Stainton, 79, of Miami, Florida, passed away on March 31, 2026. Born on July 23, 1946, Bert lived a life marked by strength, dedication, and quiet kindness. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a dedicated professional who gave so much to both his family and his community. Bert proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as an AH-1G "Cobra" gunship pilot and then as a flight instructor at the U.S. Army Aviation Center at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Following his military service, he continued his commitment to public safety with a distinguished 27-year career at Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department, retiring as a Battalion Chief. His leadership, courage, and steady presence left a lasting impact on those who served alongside him. He attended Troy State University and carried throughout his life a passion for learning and discipline. Outside of his professional life, Bert was an avid saltwater sportsman who found great joy on the water. For many years, he captained his own boat, especially enjoying lobstering and time spent at sea. Bert was known for his calm demeanor, warm sense of humor, and the deep care he showed to those around him. He had a way of making people feel supported and valued, and his presence will be profoundly missed. He is survived by his son, Christopher L. (Patricia) Stainton; his daughter, Andrea D. (Craig) Hoffman; his beloved grandchildren, Kristin N. Stainton, Alyssa L. Stainton, Taylor Stainton, Austin L. Hoffman, and Parker S. Hoffman; his sister, Cebry Stainton Maloy; and his brother-in-law, Greg (Maritza) Strong. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela C. Stainton. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Caballero Rivero Westchester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. Bert will be deeply missed but forever remain in our hearts. "Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened." Dr. Seuss
