Additional information about this casualty:
A Vietnamese farmer had found Knutson's body and buried it in a village cemetery. A U.S.-Vietnam team trying to resolve questions about soldiers missing in action talked to the farmer and exhumed the body in October 1995. Dental records confirmed that it was Knutson.
