War Story:
They were doing a weather check at night with low clouds, flying from our company area to one of the battalion log pads, and basically flew into the ground just south of the Camp Evans perimeter. Several of us urged the CO to get someone out to check for survivors but those in command thought it too dangerous to send anyone outside the wire after dark. Later we were told that Joe Laszlo was found to have been thrown clear of the aircraft, still strapped in his seat.
