War Story:
After dropping off a Recon team, the aircraft left the zone. The enemy waited just long enough and then let the Recon team have it. CPT Littler and his crew went back to extract the team but were hit by an RPG. The wingman reported that the plane exploded in mid-air and crashed on top of the ten man Recon team in the zone. Some team members survived the crash but were killed when the enemy overran the position. CPT Littler was ready to go home and 1LT Daley had been in Vietnam for ten days. The crew chief was three days away from a special leave. The reports we got indicated that each crew member had been shot once in the head when the enemy overran the site. Submitted by Bruce Lake, See 1500 Feet Over Vietnam, Page 156.
