War Story:
The edited unit history states a CH-3 was lost while supporting a TACAN site in northern Laos. Three crew members and three passengers died in the crash. Two crew chiefs and one passenger survived and were transferred to Clark AFB for hospitalization.
A CH-3C #62-12582 from the 20th SOS, crewed by Maj. Walter Wesley Martin (P), Capt. Richard Alan Fleming (CP) and SSgt. Albert Jackson Davis (FE), while supporting TACAN site (LS-36) at Na Khang in northern Laos experienced small arms fire sending the helicopter over the side of a hill where it crashed, rolled over and exploded. Major Martin, Capt. Fleming, SSgt. Davis along with passengers Lt. Col. Wayne Franklin Bolton, TSgt. George Albert Kurtyka and TSgt. Huan Arturo Maldonado, were killed and three other airmen passengers survived. No other details are known at this time. "PJ's in Vietnam" by Robert L.
