War Story:
Reading through the helicopters in the 135th AHC I noticed that 68-16062
stats ended in 70/12. I was in the afore mentioned helicopter when it was
shot down 16 January 1971 and destroyed in place due to over 300 bullet
holes. In December 062 might have had 2010 hours but I was the Crew Chief
assigned to that ship, and from December to January we put another 40 plus
hours of flight time on it.
The crew of 062
was CWO(2) Terry Mazera, CWO2 Mike Seeger, RAN Airmen Jim Saw, and myself.
We were not on a combat mission at the time of the incident. We were
supporting the 5th Special Forces by the seven sisters In IV corp. We were
shot down in Cambodia. As far as I have been able to find out, only I was
decorated for the mission. The story is to long for this short response.
