Description: As part of MAC ARTHUR, the battle for Hill 875 ended on the 23d and the battle of Dak To about the same time. The 174th NVA Regt had paid dearly so that the 1st NVA Div's 32d and 66th Regts which had been battered in the battle of Ben Het and the battle of Dak To. The 1st NVA Div, driven from the bases around Dak To they had occupied for as long as six months, was now in Laos and the battle of the Highlands was over. From Oct 25 until Dec 1, a tremendous military effort was expended in these battles. 151,000 rounds of arty, 2,096 air strikes, 257 B-52 strikes. Over 40 helicopters were downed. The 4th Inf Div and the 173d ABN BDE paid a very heavy price for these victories.
