Operation JEB STUART
Thua Thien Province, I Corps, South Vietnam
Location, Hue
Description: As part of operation JEB STUART the 3rd Bde helped removed the enemy from Hue by making air assaults just outside the ARVN output, PK-17, 10 kilometers northwest of Hue. By the 5th they had moved up to a rice-farming hamlet named Thon La Chu where the enemy had 1,000 troops. The two forces exchanged small arms until the Cav could employ ARA and artillery. By the 11th the NVA were blocked on the north and south but was still too strong to finish. It wasn't until the 21-22nd that the 3rd Bde was finished with the Thon La Chue area and could moved into Hue itself.
