Description: The 57th Assault Helicopter Company after action report states at 0220 a mortar/rocket and ground attack was launched against the MACV, Signal and SF complex. Gunships were dispatched in support of these defense. Six team of 52d CAB gunships were on-station supporting the local forces against heavy enemy fire in and around the city. Control of the gunships and two gun teams that were not part of the 52d CAB became difficult and at one point all 52d CAB gunships were given a cease fire and returned to the 57th area until positive fire control was established. The contonment area received two 122mm rockets at 1900 which set a 5,000 gallon tanker on fire. Isolated sniper fire continued throughout the day. Total cumlative KIA and KBA count was 203.
