Description: The following is an edited version from the weekly Vietnam Communique column in the 30 Mar 1968 issue. Helicopter gunship crews of the 13th CAB reported killing 41 VC in support of ARVN infantry units participating in Operation Truong Cong Dinh in the Mekong Delta. A light fire team from the 114th AHC supported soldiers of the 7th ARVN Div in a search and destroy mission near My Tho. The Cobra crews reported killing 30 VC while providing armed reconnaissance. In addition they sank 13 sampans and destroyed 29 enemy fortifications. Gunship crew from B/3/17th Air Cav supported ARVN infantrymen at an outpost eight miles southwest of Tay Ninh after the post had been attacked by an estimated two companies of enemy troops. After the battle, ground units swept the area and reported that 25 enemy soldiers had been killed by the helicopter gunners. Viking crews of the 121st AHC flew close overhead fire support for a 9th ARVN Div regimental search and destroy operation 11 1/2 miles north of Soc Trang. The gunners reported killing 11 communist soldiers during the mission.
