Description: The following is an edited version of an article titled "Copters collide, 26 Die." Saigon (AP) - Two U.S. Army helicopters collided in flight Friday, killing 18 South Vietnamese irregulars and eight U.S. Troops, the U.S. Command announced. The spokesman said the collision occurred shortly before noon 59 miles southwest of the coastal city of Qui Nhon while the helicopters were on a combat operation. They said there were no survivors. Qui Nhon is 270 miles northeast of Saigon. Both helicopters crashed after the collision and were completely destroyed, the spokesmen said. Vietnamese Civilian Irregulars (CIDG) serve under Vietnamese Army and U.S. Special Forces advisors. (This refers to two 155 AHC Hueys on the 19th).
