Please note we have updated the VHPA Policy on Donation or Endorsement Requests. The VHPA selected the Vietnam
Center and Archive at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX as the official
archive of the VHPA. Texas Tech was selected over military museums because
it has a much more predictable financial future then military museums that are
subject to significant government budgetary changes. Texas Tech is a
conservative pro-military university and the Vietnam Center and Archive is
managed by Vietnam and other military veterans. Since that decision thousands of
documents, pictures, CDs, DVDs, calendars, directories, artifacts and four
helicopters have been added to the VHPA Collection and more are added weekly as
members donate their personal collections. Here is how to donate physical items: 1. Contact Amy Mondt <amy.k.mondt@ttu.edu> and provide a summary of the physical material you wish to send. 2. Amy will reply with specific instructions. 3. Ship the materials to them noting they are part of the VHPA Collection.. 4. Amy will respond with an acknowledgement letter plus a form to complete granting them archive rights, etc. to the material. Here are some videos to help with this process: The VHPA Executive Council (EC), realizing that the Vietnam Center contains our legacy, has recently formalized and established an endowment at Texas Tech to ensure our collection continues to be available to the public in perpetuity. This endowment will fund part or all of a person at Texas Tech to manage the VHPA Collection forever. The EC goal is to achieve an initial $250,000 within four years primarily through member donations. It requires this level of funding to provide adequate interest (currently at 4.5%) to pay for a part time dedicated person working exclusively on the VHPA Collection. Your tax deductible donations can be made to the VHPA by mailing a check to VHPA Endowment, 2100 N Highway 360, Suite 907, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. To use a credit card, please call HQ on 800-505-VHPA(8472) during normal business hours. Those age 70 1/2 or older can instruct your IRA custodian to transfer any amount up to $100,000 per year directly to the VHPA Endowment. This would help satisfy your required minimum annual withdrawal and would not be in your taxable income. If you are a VHPA member and wish to make a financial donation, please make donations via the Online Membership Directory. The VHPA Archive is our legacy. To preserve this legacy, the VHPA has established an endowment fund at Texas Tech University to fund the preservation and maintenance of our collection in perpetuity. You can make tax deductible financial contributions by either:
